Trudy Schiwy, Chief Executive Officer & Owner

Trudy holds a degree in Business Administration from the University of Maryland, College Park. Her first job after graduation was with Ohio Envelope, a mail order and catalog printing company. During her time there she rose to the position of Operations Manager.

At the retirement of co-founder Regina Schiwy in 1991 Trudy teamed up with husband Michael at Gunther’s Electric as Chief Financial Officer. In addition to her bookkeeping chores she took on many of the other responsibilities that are necessary to keep a small company running smoothly. The company has been going strong ever since.

Following the unexpected loss of Michael in June 2014, Trudy took over as CEO. Trudy is determined in her commitment to Gunther’s Electric’s long time employees and their clients by moving forward and keeping the legacy of the business intact.

Matt Schiwy, Vice President

Matt is set and ready to pursue his childhood dream to join the family business with aspirations of one day buying the business.  Matt is a third generation Schiwy to join the business.  He is the grandson of the Founder, Gunther Schiwy, in which he incorporated in 1961 and the son of Michael Schiwy that took over the business from his father in 1990 and continued to operate it up until his passing in 2014.  The business has continued to remain strong under the leadership of his mother, Trudy.

Matt Schiwy started working summers for Gunther’s Electric, Inc. in 2012.  In December 2018 he graduated from East Carolina University with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering.  In the summer of 2017 Matt worked as an intern as an assistant Project Manager at a major electrical contracting company in North Carolina, there he gained knowledge about the organization and the processes of a very successful business.

He is currently enrolled in the the four year course required to obtain his Master Electricians License, with the goal to allow the company to one day operate under his license.

Matt looks forward to continuing the long tradition of quality service, good customer relationships and a strong community presence.

Dave Benson, General Manger

Dave joined Gunther’s Electric over 25 years ago as a journeyman’s electrician after more than 10 prior years in the trade.  With over 35 years in the business he has a wide range of knowledge of residential, commercial and industrial wiring.

In 2016 he was promoted to General Manager where he has gained experience in estimating, job supervising and customer relations. Dave is also our in-house expert in Lutron lighting control.

Ronnie Johnson, Operations Manager

Ronnie has over 40 years with Delmarva Power and Choptank Electric in operations and utility construction. He is a Master Electrician and is an experienced supervisor with a wide range of knowledge in the electrical field. His background makes him uniquely qualified to meet the everyday challenges of our business and our customer’s varied needs.

Marcia Buchness, Administrative Assistant

Marcia joined Gunther’s Electric, Inc. in June of 2022. When working with Gunther’s Electric, you will get to know Marcia’s voice well, as she is generally your first point of contact when calling the office. Among a wide variety of tasks, Marcia’s main duties are customer service and billing. She comes to us boasting a 20+ year career in logistics for an export company, which has shown to be a valuable asset since day one.
